Hi buddy,
WordPress is fundamentally blogging software, where separate posts are created with a specific date, and can be assigned a category. This makes it perfect for an online diary.
What you will want to do is create a separate diary entry as a post. Each post will have it’s own date, and you can place the post in the category of your choice.
WordPress will also group these by month, and you can show those in a sidebar widget if you want.
Most themes display posts in chronological order with the latest post at the top of the front page. So essentially you can use any theme you wish, WordPress will take care of the rest.
I hope this helps.

Hi can someone who is familiar with WordPress pls help me out with this!
I know that wordpress was initially made for blogging, but I’m not interested in that at this stage. I am a beginner and all I want to do is to get a 3 page static html website up live. Here’s what I have done so far:
Got my hosting server (godaddy)
Downloaded wordpress.
Created a MySQL database on the host server and connected wordpress to it.
Designed a simple web page on Fireworks.
Converted said design to HTML with an attached Stylesheet. (called index.html & style.css)
Typed in the comment on the stylesheet so that wordpress knows its a theme.
This is where I am stuck. Can anyone recommend a good tutorial or tell me what I should do next – I notice that the default theme has lots of php files. Do I need them if my site will have no blog and will just be static html pages? I am new to php so only know what it stands for.
I’m doing a static html site first just to get my head round wordpress.
Thanks guys!

Sadly it’s way more complex than you think
All those PHP files are what actually constitute a theme
As I’ve been doing this kinda thing for over 5 years now I know what I’m talking about (just gonna do another)
A theme is littered with PHP code that make it actually work.
What a developer has to do is fold your design into a theme – this is not easy
It depends on your budget as to whether you can get someone to create a theme from your design
My best suggestion is that you simply google ‘free wordpress theme‘ then find something approximating to the desired result. There are lots of very good starting points you can use.
If you can handle CSS you can simply move things around as you like
I know this ain’t the answer you wanted, sadly it’s the correct one
