First, remember: there’s a difference. wordpress.com (emphasis on .com) is where you get the free blog. wordpress.org (emphasis on .org) is where you get the free software to download and install on YOUR OWN website. Which do you have?
If you’re talking about .com (which you said in your question) then you’re ABSOLUTELY LIMITED to the ones they offer on the website. No choice whatsoever. Zip nil zero. Read the forum. That’s heem. The best you can do is, take one of those they have and, pay $ 15 and, tinker with the CSS and modify its look and feel with your own CSS (you can actually do quite a bit with CSS).
If you’re talking about .org, then merely do a Google search for free WordPress templates and you’ll find a world of them.

Over the last six weeks I have been battling to find the right designer for a wordpress themes blog I needed to add to my core website. It seems that he had just latterly launched a new template called Thesis.
I clicked through to his site and was stunned.
