The 4th amendment along with any other US law isn’t applied until your granted access into the United States.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection are allowed to search for any reason they see fit.. reason being is the person being searched has no rights. Its a border crossing outside of US Soverignty. I hate it when people blab about things they dont know about… Shut up twitter
You really need to educate yourself mobuzz. There is no fourth amendment when you cross the border. They are called border searches. Whether its up your ass or in your laptop… its all fair game.
This is called “Border Search Authority”, which includes “Functional Equivalent of Borders” also. This means land border Ports of Entry, Airports within the main land borders of the United States that internatinal flights arrive into, i.e, Houston Inernational Airport and all sea ports. This has been in effect since the inception of the Legacy U.S. Customs Service, this is nothing new. There is descretion used and no one is summarily searched, once you knock at the door, you can be inspected.
How do you know there was no reasonable cause for search in these instances? Ever heard of child porn? Terrorism? Maybe we should just let people into this country without any inspection, then you’ll say law enf. didn’t do their jobs. Can’t win.
Congress has passed laws that allow officers to search and seize property without a warrant. Its the law..so deal with it or don’t come to America. Don’t forget, only the people/criminals with something to hide, bitch about this situation at the border.
